UNR Health Professions Collaborative

Build and maintain a collaborative of UNR health professions that represent Nevada and are committed to ensuring SBIRT is implemented and sustained as an essential component of School of Nursing and School of Social Work curricula by creating a Council of Directors (COD), designing and implementing faculty SBIRT training programs, and promoting development of faculty and student SBIRT champions.

Nevadas Key Resource

Serve as Nevada’s subject expert and key resource on SBIRT by providing training workshops for Nevada’s health professionals, including those in frontier/rural areas, and developing a website and other instructional products to increase availability and access to evidence-based screening tools and brief intervention practices in electronic or web-based formats.

Use innovative instructional strategies and curricular detailing, including discipline-specific and frontier/telehealth issues, to promote awareness, use, and implementation of SBIRT by health professions students through the development of a Curriculum Infusion Package (CIP) for each identified discipline that includes a sequence of didactic and experiential learning activities designed for integrated instruction by UNR faculty, and prepared for regional and national dissemination.

Infuse the adapted SBIRT Curriculum into existing nursing and social work courses.

Evaluate the impact of teachSBIRT activities on knowledge, attitudes, and skills.
